Role of the Sponsor

(based on the description of binding procedures in one of the Sponsor organizations, i.e. CIEE).

As an organization designated by the U.S. Department of State to administer the J-1 Intern and Trainee programs, assumes a number of duties and responsibilities.

It provides the following services:

•     Assistance in the application process
•     Issuance of the "Certificate of Eligibility for J-1 Visa" (Form DS-   2019) to successful applicants
•     Host organization and applicant vetting
•     Orientation materials for participants
•     Health insurance
•     Visit Sponsor's Website for detailed information
•     Customer service and 24-hour emergency support for participants and organizations
•     Program monitoring through evaluations
